17 days/16 nights complete Dive & Dine Bali gourmet diving holiday.
10 diving days, (27 dives), 7 non-diving days, guided land tours and activities, 16 included dinners.
This is a SAMPLE itinerary,
a 17 days’ trip to show what we believe would be a great gourmet diving holiday with a lot of relaxing and pampering in spa’s. However, you can ask us to compose your very own “a la carte” holiday. Shorter, longer, more or less diving, with more action or even less…
You name it, we take care.
DAY 1: WELCOME – SEMINYAK
We meet and greet at Ngurah Rai Airport of Denpasar Bali upon your arrival and transfer you to the Seri Suites in Seminyak. Welcome drink with your dive guide and tour leader.
Tugu Bali is where you dine on your first day and night. For the authentic and traditional, there is the Majapahit era-Waroeng Djawa kitchen, which serves amongst the best Javanese and Balinese food on the island.
After your first dinner experience, you enjoy a good night’s rest.
DAY 2: SEMINYAK
The best way to get rid of your jet leg and to get tuned in to the tropical rhythm is to enjoy some pampering in a good spa. Have a massage, a facial, and a Balinese mandi lulur and forget about the world for a while. This is a perfect welcome to Bali. Lunch before or after your treatment.
Dinner at Bumbu Bali. Discovering the tropical island paradise also requires the exploration of its traditional cooking at Bumbu Bali.
DAY 3: SEMINYAK – LOVINA
Today you travel to Lovina, a quiet coastal town on the North Bali coastline west of the city of Singaraja. We take advantage of the long journey to visit some gorgeous and interesting farming areas and you will enjoy the spectacular, famous rice terrace views of Bali. Check in at your hotel in Lovina, Zen resort.
For dinner tonight we step back from the fine dining to the simple joys of eating at the Zen resort, offering healthy and delightful gastronomy, Asian to European Cuisine, Ayurvedic or vegetarian meal.
DAY 4: LOVINA – MENJANGAN (3 dives)
Lets go diving! After your first series of great eating adventures it is time to get wet. Today’s program is a day trip to the national marine park of Menjangan Island. You are off for three boat dives around the island. There are about fourteen dive sites to choose from, all with clear water and calm conditions.
After a series of beautiful dives you will enjoy one of the best fine dining opportunities in Bali at the Damai Restaurant. Already the subject of several cook books and magazine articles, the award-winning restaurant at Damai serves organic vegetables and meats from their own small farm, together with fresh catch from the bountiful Bali sea and selected imported delicacies.
DAY 5: LOVINA – AMED (2 dives)
Today you will start early in the morning on your way to the east. The first dive is close to Lovina: Puri Jati, a quiet recently discovered phenomenal muck dive site. Second dive will be on Monkey Reef in Kubu, just before Tulamben. After the dive you continue your journey further east towards Amed. Your accommodation for the next couple of days will be Puri Wirata.
Tonight we offer you the true Balinese experience: eating like the Balinese do, Babi Guling (suckling pig), sitting on the floor and eating with your hands!!
DAY 6: AMED (2/3 dives)
Today you will dive around Amed, from a small jukung (the traditional, colorful, little fishing boat), an interesting area with great potential and few divers. Bunutan is actually the name of the village in front of this very special dive site. The second dive will be on Jemeluk Wall, a reef slope combined with a wall at the site of the quiet and idyllic Jemeluk bay. There is always a possibility for a pelagic encounter here. A third shore dive can be done as you wish (late afternoon or night). You will have lunch between the dives.
For dinner you have a genuine Balinese specialty at restaurant The Pavilion. Chicken or duck Betutu. Smoked duck is a delicacy of Bali. The rich flavor of duck is greatly enhanced by a host of pungent roots, herbs and seasonings in this dish, which is invariably a great favorite with visitors to Bali. The Balinese have great admiration for the duck and consider it to be a particularly strong animal as it is, like the turtle, one of the only ones able to survive on land as on water.
DAY 7: AMED – TULAMBEN (3/4 dives)
Early in the morning, you will travel towards Tulamben, home to the world famous Liberty Wreck. A very popular dive site, but still rewarding, especially because we will dive it before the other divers arrive. Second dive will be on Tulamben’s Drop Off, a wall with a nice craggy structure that is exceedingly rich. Third dive will be at Paradise Reef, a beautiful coral garden and muck dive site in one. Fourth dive: a night dive on the Liberty Wreck. Lunch in Tulamben in between the dives.
In the evening you will enjoy the simple, tasteful Balinese food at the local Warung Wayan.
DAY 8: AMED (2/3 dives)
Another day of diving in the Amed area. In front of Cafe Garam there is an interesting muck dive site accessible from the beach. Your second dive is one from a jukung on Kungkang Reef a dive on a slope with a unique artificial reef on the sandy bottom. Complimentary third shore dive in Jemeluk Bay (late afternoon or night). You will have lunch between the dives.
Dinner tonight is at your hotel Puri Wirata where the cook will prepare a delicious fish barbecue for you.
DAY 9: AMED – UBUD (2 dives)
Your two last dives in the Amed area. Depending on conditions we dive two sites called Deep Blue and the Japanese shipwreck. Or we can go to do two dives in Seraya Secrets: a notorious muck diving site with seahorse, frogfish, harlequin shrimp and a great number of nudibranch species.
Transfer to Ubud, as the cultural capital of Bali, a very interesting non-diving destination. During the trip we make a stop at Sidemen, a traditional weaving village amidst stunning rice fields and at Goa Gajah, the elephant temple. Check in at your hotel, Tjampuhan, the first hotel in the artisan district of Ubud, providing traditional Balinese-style accommodation and healing spa treatments since 1928.
Dinner tonight: for the purpose of diversity, we have chosen fine dining, Japanese style, at Minami.
DAY 10: UBUD
In the morning delight in a traditional spa treatment. After lunch you will set off to renowned restaurant Mozaic. Chris Salans, world renowned chef has made his restaurant Mozaic, in Bali, the first restaurant in South East Asia to be recognized as a ‘Grande Table du Monde’ (Best Table of the World) by Traditions et Qualité for it’s cuisine and service, and the first to receive the Award of Excellence by Wine Spectator for its wine cellar. Passionate about his art, Chris is now putting together a culinary school, offering professional and recreational classes. Have an early dinner because tomorrow is an early rise and shine!
DAY 11: UBUD – CANDIDASA
Early in the morning before sunrise you engage on “The Golden Hour Tour”. A new experience to rediscover the art of traditional living and heritage of Bali… After lunch we transfer to our last diving area and base ourselves four nights at East Bali Villa’s. The villas are part of a small waterside enclave of just seven private houses. All villas are owner managed, by a group of like-minded individuals who support philanthropic initiatives; locally, island wide, and nationally; including The East Bali Poverty Project and Habitat for Humanity Indonesia. In the afternoon we visit Tenganan, a “Bali Aga” village of traditional Balinese people.
In the evening we bring you to the Alila Seasalt restaurant, considered one of Bali’s finest restaurants, with focus on the East Bali cuisine. Bon appetite and good night!
DAY 12: CANDIDASA – NUSA PENIDA (2 dives)
After off-gassing during your two days of non-diving it is time to get in the water again. You will do two boat dives around Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida. The water is colder here and the dives can be challenging. You have a great chance to encounter the illustrious Mola Mola (especially from mid August to mid October). Typically the dives have stunning visibility, healthy reefs and pelagics. Lunch is on the boat between the dives.
This time we go western for dinner at Lotus Seaview, where salt is in the air. This simple restaurant at the edge of the sea serves perfect pastas or spare ribs. For those homesick ones.
DAY 13: CANDIDASA – PADANG BAI (2/3 dives)
After an early morning breakfast you will experience first hand the East Bali cooking with Alila’s renowned cooking class. The Alila Manggis Cooking School is where the team of chefs celebrates and share with you the true essence of the Balinese lifestyle through fascinating culinary adventures.
After savouring your own prepared lunch there is still time for some diving. You will do two dives at Blue Lagoon, Padang Bai. Blue Lagoon or Tanjung Sari offers easy diving in a shallow area, not so rich in coral growth but with an amazing number of special critters and different species of shark. You can have a night dive as well here, as night diving here is terrific night.
Timur restaurant, part of Dua Gills where you stay, serves a delightful mix of east and west with the emphasis on freshness. You enjoy your dinner and at the same time you are doing a great thing for humanity because, a considerable part of the restaurant’s profit goes directly into Habitat For Humanity.
DAY 14: CANDIDASA – NUSA PENIDA (2 dives)
Another two boat dives around Nusa Lembongan and Nusa Penida are on the program today. After your diving today you enjoy a one hour full body massage at your hotel.
Dinner is at Garpu, large glassed-in restaurant built right to the ocean edge. International cuisines, with a definite French touch.
DAY 15: CANDIDASA – SEMINYAK (3 dives)
Today is your last day of diving and you will finish in style. The diving in this area is astonishingly rich, but has also very strong currents and cool water (5mm wetsuit!). You will do three dives in Amuk Bay, Candidasa. Depending on the conditions (e.g. currents) you will dive around the small islands of Tepekong, Mimpang or Biaha. You and your dive guide will take a speedboat from Padang Bai to reach the different dive sites in Candidasa. There is plenty of choice in Amuk Bay and the dive sites are very varied. Lunch on the boat in between the dives.
After this challenging day we transfer you to the Seri Suites in Seminyak where you can relax. Your driver will pick you up later for another fabulous dinner experience at restaurant Sarong in Seminyak.
DAY 16: SEMINIYAK – JIMBARAN
Enjoy a relaxing morning or go shopping for presents in the streets of Legian and Seminyak. Your driver is there for you.
In the afternoon you visit the temple of Uluwatu and see the fire dance while the sun is going down. For your very last feast of your culinary diving vacation you will be treated to a famous fresh fish barbecue on the beach of Jimbaran. Sweet dreams on your last night in the “Morning of the world”.
